This month’s scholarship website focus is Raise.me. According to the website, “RaiseMe enables students to earn scholarships throughout high school, starting as early as 9th grade, for doing all the things that best prepare them to succeed, whether that’s getting good grades, volunteering in the community or joining an extracurricular. Your total earnings previewed in RaiseMe are a minimum guarantee of the financial award that you will receive from a 4-year institution if you apply and are accepted.”
To participate, sign up, add information to your portfolio (classes, grades, awards, jobs, civic activities, organizations, etc.), and follow colleges. Each college you follow will have a micro-scholarship for each item in your portfolio. You only receive the funding amount for the college you apply and are accepted to, NOT a total of all of the micro scholarships for every college you follow.
Depending on the grade of the student when they sign up, and the amount of activities they are involved in, it could take as little as 20 minutes for the initial sign up, or an hour. However, this time can be broken down by doing one section a day. The student would just need to log in to their portfolio and add to it.
