2025 HS4CC Summer Internship Program

Is your high school teen looking for a unique internship opportunity that is fully remote? HS4CC, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, seeks talented teens in our community to help us build and promote many new projects this summer.  Our interns will do real-world work and be an essential part of our team. We encourage the interns to use their time with us to develop skills for their resumes and work, which they can use in a portfolio during job interviews or on a college application.

This page should answer most of your questions, but if it doesn’t, you can ask questions by contacting Jennifer Cook-DeRosa at cookderosa@hs4cc.org

Application Period:  March 15, 2025 – May 1, 2025

Deadline to accept/decline:  May 16, 2024

Length of Program:  8 weeks

Dates of Program:  June 2, 2025- July 25, 2025.

Eligibility

The internship eligibility criteria aim to select students who are actively engaged in Homeschooling for College teens. Please note that candidates must meet all four(4)  criteria for consideration.

  1. The student must be legally classified as “homeschooled.”  The applicant should get this information from their parent.  We understand homeschooling laws and verification options differ in each state; thus, the documentation should reflect what is appropriate for your state. (Registration number, school ID number, etc.) If no “proof” is available, a letter from the parent is sufficient.
  2. The student must be rising into grades 9-12.  “Rising” means that the student will begin grades 9, 10, 11, or 12 during the 2025-2026 school year.
  3. The student must have earned at least 9 college credits at the time of turning in their application. There are no restrictions on the type of college credit, only that it be earned.
  4. The applicant’s parent must belong to at least one of our HS4CC Facebook groups.

Bonus criteria:  Passionate about our cause!  You’ll work with very passionate HS4CC volunteers, and we want you to love HS4CC as much as we do!

FAQ

Is this a paid internship? No. HS4CC is a nonprofit organization operated by volunteers. However, you will receive many benefits and skills to help you in high school, college, and your career.

Where will I work? All work is remote. We will communicate regularly using text, phone, Zoom, and email. Depending on the project, interns may work with other adults or teens.

What are my hours? Your work will mainly be project-based and not tied to specific hours or days of the week. Interns should expect to dedicate 10-20 hours per week during most weeks, but very few of our projects will be time-specific. Note that you will be expected to attend a weekly Zoom meeting during the internship. The meeting will happen on the same day/time each week and will be scheduled as far in advance as possible so you may plan accordingly.

What Will I Get?

  • $500 HS4CC scholarship to use DURING HIGH SCHOOL for the college credit program(s) of your choice.
  • Detailed documentation outlining the scope of the work you performed for our organization. This will validate and verify your skills and duties during your internship with us.
  • Certificate of Completion suitable for framing.
  • Two letters of recommendation: one from the Homeschooling for College Credit Executive Director and a second from your mentor or project supervisor.
  • Record of your total hours completed.
  • One intern will be offered an opportunity to serve as the HS4CC Lead Intern for next summer (2026).
  • We will select between 1-8 interns based on the interest generated and funds raised. In 2024 we received 20 applications and were able to select 5 interns.
