Empowering Families, Building Futures
Homeschooling for College Credit is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering homeschooling families with free and very low-cost resources to help their teens earn affordable college credit. Unlike businesses that charge for access to this information, we believe that every family should have access to the information and tools they need.
We are fiercely determined to expand access to affordable, flexible postsecondary options for homeschoolers—and you can join us in that fight. Together, we can open more doors and create more opportunities for families nationwide.
We advocate for:
- Homeschool-friendly colleges
- Low-cost college options
- Debt-free degree planning
- Transfer credit transparency
- Flexible postsecondary pathways

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) About Our Nonprofit Compliance
✅ Do you file an annual IRS return?
Yes.
We file the IRS Form 990-N (e-Postcard) each year. This is a simple annual filing required by the IRS for 501(c)(3) organizations with less than $50,000 in gross receipts. Filing this form keeps our federal tax-exempt status active.
❌ Do you have a North Carolina Charitable Solicitation License?
No, and here’s why:
North Carolina law exempts charities from needing a solicitation license if they raise less than $50,000 annually and do not compensate any staff or board members.
Our organization meets both conditions and is therefore exempt from this requirement.

❌ Do you file a North Carolina Annual Report?
No.
Unlike for-profit corporations, nonprofit organizations in North Carolina are not required to file annual reports with the Secretary of State unless specifically asked.
❌ Do you file a state income tax return?
No.
We are federally recognized as a 501(c)(3) and do not generate unrelated business income (UBI), so we are exempt from both federal and North Carolina corporate income tax filings.
🧾 Are you a registered 501(c)(3)?
Yes.
Homeschooling for College Credit, Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) public charity.
- EIN: 92-2597492

💰 What is your annual revenue?
Our total annual revenue is under $50,000. This allows us to file the simple 990-N form and qualify for North Carolina’s charitable license exemption.
Do you pay a salary to staff or board members?
No.
We do not pay a salary to staff or board members. Our organization is powered entirely by passionate volunteers. When practical, we barter services with our volunteers and offer stipends or scholarships in exchange for some extra work.
