Happy Story: High School Diploma & Associate of Applied Science Degree

By the time most students are just starting their college journey, Misti’s son had already walked across the stage with two diplomas in hand—one for high school and one for college!

Finding the Right Path

Every student is unique, and for Misti’s son, a traditional high school path just didn’t make sense. He had a passion for graphic design, Photoshop, and multimedia production, so when they found Somerset Community College’s online Visual Communications – Multimedia program, they knew it was a perfect fit.

Because all the courses were available online, he was able to start earning college credits while still in high school—a key benefit of HS4CC. Instead of waiting until after graduation to explore his interests, he was learning real-world design skills, software applications, and business branding techniques while completing his high school coursework at the same time.

By the time he finished his degree at just 18 years old, Misti’s son had marketable skills in graphic design, logo creation, music production, and videography. Unlike many students who graduate college unsure of their next steps, he was already well-equipped to start working immediately.

What makes this story even more inspiring is that Misti’s son isn’t the first—or the last—of her children to use HS4CC to launch their futures. He was actually the fourth in their family to graduate using HS4CC! And since then, two more of Misti’s children have also graduated with college degrees while still in high school.

That’s six homeschool graduates in one family who have successfully used HS4CC to reduce college costs, earn degrees early, and enter their careers with confidence.

The combination of early college credit, strategic planning, and online learning allowed him to gain the knowledge and experience needed to build a career he’s passionate about—before most of his peers even set foot in a college classroom.

I love sharing happy stories like these! If your student earned college credit in high school or even a degree, let’s celebrate! Drop me an email and let’s share it in the community as a source of inspiration.
