Happy Story: Noah’s Journey From Homeschool to College Success

I’m thrilled to share an update on Noah, one of the HS4CC teens who graduated in 2024. Noah’s story is a testament to the power of resourceful planning and perseverance, and his accomplishments serve as an inspiration for other Homeschooling for College Credit (HS4CC) families.

After 13 years of homeschooling, Noah achieved a remarkable milestone—graduating from Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) with his Associate of Arts degree in 2024, all while still in high school. His journey was made possible through dual enrollment, a strategy that allowed him to complete college credits while finishing his high school education. In North Carolina, an AA degree is guaranteed to transfer into any of the state’s public universities, and Noah selected North Carolina State to continue his education. His academic success is a shining example of what is possible when homeschool parents ake an active role in shaping their teen’s high school education.

Noah’s high school experience was uniquely tailored to his strengths and interests, and he completed his coursework through his family’s homeschool, Providence Christian Academy. The support of his mother, Afrika, combined with the guidance and resources from HS4CC, played a crucial role in his educational success. On May 25th, he proudly walked across the stage at the North Carolinians for Home Education (NCHE) graduation ceremony, marking both his high school and college achievements. His family celebrated the moment with deep gratitude, acknowledging God’s faithfulness throughout their homeschooling journey. Afrika expressed her deep appreciation for the invaluable advice and encouragement she received from HS4CC moderators, which helped them make informed decisions throughout the process.

Now, Noah is taking the next big step in his educational journey at North Carolina State University, where he is pursuing a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. Transitioning to a large university is a significant adjustment, but he has embraced the challenges of college life with enthusiasm. One of the most impactful aspects of his college experience has been his participation in the Black Male Initiative Living and Learning Village. This program has provided him with a strong sense of community and support, helping him form friendships and develop leadership skills.

As a junior at just 18 years old, Noah is still navigating the demands of university life. Like many first-year college students, time management remains an area for growth, but he is learning how to balance academics, extracurriculars, and social life. Looking ahead, he is considering adding a minor or second major, which would extend his time on campus and allow him to continue developing his academic and professional skills. With his drive and ambition, there is no doubt that Noah will continue to thrive.

Noah’s story is a testament to the success that can come from strategic homeschool planning and early college credit opportunities. His journey from homeschooling to college highlights the incredible possibilities available to families who take advantage of dual enrollment and alternative credit pathways.

Congratulations, Noah! Your hard work and determination have paved the way for a bright future, and we can’t wait to see all that you accomplish!
