Happy Story: Homeschool Graduate to Entrepreneur Alannah’s Story

A few years ago, HS4CC mom Katherine was stressed and anxious about watching her daughter Alannah prepare to graduate from high school. However, fast forward to today, and Alannah is not only a high school graduate but a college student with 81 college credits and a full-fledged entrepreneur running her own business. I’m thrilled to share this update with all of you!

Hard Work and Planning

Alannah’s story is an inspiring example of how homeschooling offers the flexibility to craft a unique educational path that fits a student’s interests and strengths. From the start, Alannah was motivated to get a head start on her college education. With the help of her mom’s planning, she enrolled in dual enrollment programs and took advantage of credit by exam opportunities, earning a remarkable 81 college credits in high school.

Katherine’s “happy post” celebration message back in 2024 to our Facebook group reflected a sense of pride and relief. Not only had Alannah graduated, but she had built a solid foundation for the future, with plans to attend Culinary Arts school and pursue a master’s degree in business tech.

Entrepreneurship

She is now on track to graduate with her bachelor’s degree in June 2025, with only 15 credits left to complete, but she is also juggling the responsibilities of being a full-time entrepreneur. Alannah has successfully launched her own business, Dance Like a Cupcake, where she supplies consumer packaged goods—especially her signature giant cookies—to local restaurants, grocery stores, and her ever-growing online customer base.

In March, Alannah will begin an internship with a wholesale distribution company. The internship is a natural next step in her career, offering additional professional development as she looks toward her future.

Defying the Traditional Path

What makes Alannah’s story so inspiring is the way her family has carefully carved out a unique path. Her story is a powerful reminder that success isn’t one-size-fits-all. It’s about finding what works for you and creating a personalized journey that allows you to thrive.

I invite you to visit Alannah’s business page or follow her on Instagram.
