What do carpenters, construction workers, HVAC workers, plumbers, and electrical workers have in common? Growing demand, wage resilience, and future-proofing! While some “knowledge economy” jobs are vulnerable to AI automation, these skilled trade roles remain tied to the physical world and will likely gain relative job security.

#1 Home Depot Foundation

Carpentry, Construction Management, Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing

  • The Home Depot Foundation Path to Pro Scholarship
  • $2,500 Construction Careers Scholarships
  • Eligibility Requirements:
  • Be a high school senior, high school graduate or have a GED equivalent.
  • Plan to enroll, or be enrolled within 1 year, in an approved trade-related program at an accredited two-year school or institution (i.e. technical/vocational school, community college or training center) in the United States.
  • Not be an employee or dependent of an employee of The Home Depot. Employees of The Home Depot and their dependents are eligible to apply for a scholarship from The Homer Fund. 
  • Programs/Career Paths: Carpentry, Construction Management, Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing.

#2 AmericanTrucks Student Scholarship

Carpentry, HVAC, electrical, or related fields.

  • At AmericanTrucks we are passionate about our mission to Serve the Community that supports us. We’ve recognized a growing trend in the building trades industry. Educational programs are receiving a lot of attention from national leaders and it’s our goal to be involved in a meaningful way.
  • Deadline: Oct. 15, 2025
  • Available to: Full-time students at a postsecondary vocational or technical institute pursuing a career in carpentry, HVAC, electrical or related fields. Current high school students who will be attending one of the above programs in the next academic year.
  • Amount: $2,500

Details: The AmericanTrucks Student Scholarship requires a 1,500-word essay and proof of enrollment.

#3 DeWalt Trades Scholarship

  • Deadline: 3:00 p.m. CT on Jan. 16, 2026
  • Available to: High school seniors, graduates, or postsecondary undergraduate students
  • Amount: $5,000 (up to 40 awards)

Details: In under 300 words, write an essay about how a career in construction and/or the trades will empower your future. You will need to fill out an application and submit a complete transcript of your grades and the first two pages of the most recently filed IRS Form 1040 (black out Social Security #).
