If you attended our Straighterline info session last month, you might be planning to use their courses in your homeschool this year. We just received an AMAZING promotion from them AND I discovered a hush-hush strategy to get the most from this promo. This is a long post with lots of details inside.
StraighterLine is a business that sells courses worth college credit at 180 partner colleges. Typically, the program works by subscribing for $99 per month and then paying $79 each per course. Two of my sons used a lot of Straighterline in their degrees, and we did that by always shopping the deals.
Last month I invited them to present an info session to the HS4CC community over Zoom (replay here) because they did a major upgrade to their courses which are now miles ahead of the other competitors in this space (Sophia, Studycom, etc.)
For August, they are giving us a promotion that is SO good, that I will probably write about it several more times. This is going to be a game-changer for anyone who plans to use one of their partner universities. Notable partner universities used heavily in the HS4CC community include: Charter Oak, Excelsior, Thomas Edison, Liberty, Southern New Hampshire, Colorado Christian, University of Maryland Global, and many others.
The promotion is running from August 1 – 31, 2025.
The cost is $349 and you get all the courses above on the list. There are 26 total. Some courses are not on the promotion, so be sure to look at the list.
Straighterline courses that you start are NEVER deleted from your account. In fact, my son’s unfinished courses that we bought in 2013 are still in his account if he ever wanted to finish them. For this promotion, you get 4 months to work on your courses. So, here’s my hush-hush strategy for you to extract the most from this promo. At some point during the 4-months, your student needs to start all 26 courses. Doing this will get them all into their account forever! They can then work on the primary courses you want them to complete during their fall semester (4 months) at regular pace. Then, as time and budget allows, they can come back and take the other courses later. Since Straighterline requires a monthly subscription, you’ll pay $99 per month but you won’t ever have to buy the courses. Courses are generally $79 each, so the value of those courses is over $2,000. This is a HUGE savings!
