During August, Straighterline is offering a $349 promotion for us. I wanted to prepare a REAL degree plan to show you how to use Straighterline courses at a real college. The BSN at Saint Francis Medical Center is an in-person program (Illinois) that has a partnership with Straighterline. This high school plan allows your teen to enter the BSN program and finish in only 2 years.
Degree Plan: Saint Francis Medical Center College of Nursing (BSN) – in person
Typically, a student completes nursing prerequisites and then attends a program to earn an RN license. This can be part of a 2 (Associate Degree in Nursing) or 4 year (Bachelor’s Science in Nursing) program. This program is special and unique because you can earn the 4 year degree in only 2 years.
The curriculum for the BSN program consists of 124 semester hours of coursework, plus mostly on-campus clinical experiences. The classroom requirements include 59 hours of liberal arts and sciences courses (achieved at an accredited college or university of the student’s choice) and 64 hours of study in the nursing major at the College of Nursing.
(optional) EARLY ADMISSION for HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS The college offers the opportunity for qualified students who have completed their junior year of high school to apply for early acceptance to the College. As part of the program, the accepted student is guaranteed a spot in the class by meeting the requirements for early admission and maintaining eligibility requirements. High school seniors must maintain a minimum college GPA of 3.0 while taking the required 59 credit hours of liberal arts and science courses at the college of their choice. If the college GPA of 3.0 is not maintained, the student will be removed from the early admission status and be placed in the regular admission pool. Student is required to attend all mandatory College meetings on campus and remain in contact with their College of Nursing academic advisor between their date of acceptance and the date they begin courses at the College.
Straighterline is a partner with Saint Francis Medical Center College of Nursing, so the transfer of these courses is guaranteed. Regular applicants can accumulate the required 59 general education credits during high school or at any time before applying.
